DIY Coffee Scrub With Coconut Oil - Simple, Skin-Smoothing Recipe

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 1 servings

Ingredients

  • Used or fresh coffee grounds (medium grind works best)
  • Coconut oil (virgin or refined)
  • Brown sugar or white sugar (optional, for extra scrub)
  • Vanilla extract or essential oil (optional, for scent; think vanilla, orange, or lavender)
  • Vitamin E oil (optional, extends freshness and adds skin benefits)

Instructions

  • Measure the base: Add 1/2 cup coffee grounds to a mixing bowl. Used grounds are gentler; fresh grounds feel grittier.
  • Soften the oil: Warm 1/4 cup coconut oil until just melted and pourable. Do not overheat.
  • Combine: Stir the coconut oil into the coffee until evenly moistened. You want a thick, scoopable paste.
  • Adjust texture: If it’s too dry, add 1–2 teaspoons more oil. If it’s too loose, stir in 1–2 tablespoons sugar.
  • Add extras (optional): Mix in 1 teaspoon vanilla or 3–5 drops essential oil, plus 1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil if using.
  • Use: In the shower, scoop a small amount and massage onto damp skin in gentle circles for 30–60 seconds per area. Rinse well.
  • Pat dry: Lightly towel-dry so a thin layer of coconut oil stays on the skin for softness.
